Plan Overview
The Laferla Residence Permit / Work Permit Health Insurance Plan offers comprehensive healthcare coverage within the Maltese Islands and Schengen area, with an overall maximum limit of €100,000 per policy year.
Main Benefits
In-Patient and Day-Care Treatment
- Accommodation and Ancillary Charges: Full refund of reasonable charges in Malta only, covering medicines, consumables, food, and nursing.
- Rehabilitation Centre Costs: Full refund of reasonable charges for rehabilitation recommended by a specialist following a surgical intervention.
- Parent Accommodation: Full refund for a parent staying with a child under the age of 16.
- Operating Theatre Charges: Full refund, including drugs, dressings, and surgical appliances such as prostheses.
- Surgeon’s and Anaesthetist’s Charges: Full refund of reasonable charges.
- Consulting Physician’s Charges: Full refund, including daily visits, pathology, radiology (including CT and MRI scans), diagnostic tests, and physiotherapy.
- Pregnancy and Childbirth Complications: Full refund of reasonable charges (only complications are covered).
- Treatment of Psychiatric Illnesses: Full refund, subject to a 12-month moratorium from the date of joining.
- Road Ambulance Charges: Up to €250 per episode.
Cancer Treatment
- Hospital Charges for Cancer Tests and Drugs: including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
- Oncology-related CT Scans, MRI’s, and PET Scans: Full refund of reasonable charges.
Out-Patient Treatment
- General Practitioner Consultations, Specialist Consultations, and Diagnostic Tests: Full refund up to €300 per year.
- Alternative Therapy : (osteopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic treatment)
- Out-Patient CT, MRI, and PET Scans: Covered up to €500 per scan (must be referred by a specialist).
Additional Information
Coverage outside Malta is only provided if medically necessary and recommended by a specialist registered in Malta, provided the treatment is unavailable locally. In such cases, coverage applies within the Schengen area, up to the same reasonable fees applicable in Malta.
